Through the Ages - Pilgrimage

We welcome Carol as she returns to us from her latest pilgrimage.  

In this session, we’ll look at various pilgrimages but then given Carol’s personal connection to Camino de Santiago the majority of time will be within the concept of this route. Carol has so far followed 4  routes of the Camino de Santiago

Some questions we’ll be answering:

• What is pilgrimage?
• How did some of the famous pilgrim routes come about?
• Who were the early pilgrims?
• Who are the modern pilgrims?

As we talk, we’ll look at some of the art created now and in the past by and for pilgrims.  Art remains very important to many pilgrims, this will be reflected in this conversation. 

Once the concept of the Compostela has been introduced we’ll create our own stamps.

Stamps or Sellos are collected by pilgrims to prove their journey and receive a ‘Compostela’ from the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
